“LA/ATX Pocket Expo: The New Rules of Flagging", was a  project for Salvage Vanguard Theater OUTsider Festival in Austin, Texas. The workshop and multi-screen video installation took place for the duration of the festival, as an ongoing part of the project of Die Kränken. Flagging, is a color coded system employed with handkerchiefs and used among the gay male casual sex­ seekers or BDSM practitioners to indicate preferred sexual fetishes, what kind of sex they are seeking, and whether they are a top/dominant or bottom/submissive. The hanky code was widely used in the 1970s by gay and bisexual men, and grew from there to include all genders and orientations. It is within these last orientations that the performers exist; gender fluid, queer, and polyamorous which are among the new flags on display.
